# Ethiopia joins the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property

Further to our [update](https://spoor.com/ethiopia-accedes-to-the-paris-convention-and-the-madrid-protocol/) in November of last year, Ethiopia formally deposited its instrument of accession to the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property (Paris Convention) with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on 15 May 2025.

The Paris Convention will enter into force in Ethiopia on 15 August 2025.

Ethiopia joining the Paris Union underlines its commitment to strengthening its legal and institutional framework for IP protection and innovation.
