# OAPI changes to come into effect

In 2019, the OAPI authorities announced changes to the OAPI legislation, the Bangui Agreement. It has now been announced that some of those changes – those relating to GIs, copyright, unfair competition and plant varieties – will come into effect on 14 November 2020.

In order to come into effect, the changes had to be ratified by 12 member states. We understand that Cameroon recently became the 12th OAPI member to do so.
