With this in mind, the work that engineers do today must link to a vision for the future and, while they strive to find solutions to some of the region’s most pressing challenges, IP protection remains critical. This is why our diverse Engineering team has the skills and expertise to get up to speed quickly, when it comes to understanding the technical intricacies of the inventions that underlie our clients’ commercial ventures. Our Patent department includes attorneys who are also qualified engineers, with many Chemical, Metallurgical, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic and Civil Engineering qualifications among them. Similarly, our Trade Mark department includes attorneys with extensive expertise in advising on the trade mark and technical copyright aspects that relate to portfolios within the engineering industry. Able to bridge the gaps between different engineering fields, such as mechanical and electrical engineering, our team has developed a sterling reputation for navigating the challenges posed by the 4IR. We understand the core technologies within engineering including: mining  technology; drilling, boring and excavating; earth-moving machinery; mineral processing and ore-sorting equipment; building and construction; transportation and processing equipment; machine design and dynamics; fluid dynamics and pumping equipment; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); electricity generation, transmission and storage; semi-conductors; telecommunications; signal processing and GCIS technology; RFID and satellite communication; nanotechnology; computer-implemented inventions; business methods; and artificial intelligence.
